Research Work
Jodhpur division of Rajasthan, comprising six districts Jodhpur, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Pali and Sirohi, is the most backward area of Rajasthan. This area falls in Thar Desert. Jodhpur division has largest area, but at the same time is the least backward also as far as basic facilities is concerned. The area suffers from lack of education, lack of drinking water and recurrent famine.
Each area has its unique problem, which have their own reasons. Unless their reasons are found out, one cannot decide on the strategy. When PWDDS started work here, it identified a number of issues. It became imperative to identify their reasons. To know these reasons, the organisation set up a research centre and this centre is engaged in researching and trying to find unique solutions to the issues.
The research unit has three laboratories:
- Agriculture research and technical unit
- Animal husbandry research and treatment unit
- Disaster management research and technical unit
These three units have appropriate equipment, machinery and human resource to facilitate research work.
