Livestock Development
The rural economy in Rajasthan mainly depends on agriculture and animal husbandry. But because of continued drought and famines, people face several problems in their livelihood. Most of the people in the districts, where the organisation works, rear goat and sheep for their livelihood. Generally, the sheep are not of good breed and because of this, the shepherds do not get appropriate income.
Incidentally, the Government has not included sheep in famine code. Because of this during while cows get fodder during famines, the sheep and goats are left to die. This breaks the backbone of the shepherds and goat rearers.
Ever since its inception the organisation is working towards conservation and development of livestock. The activities include:
- Breed improvement
- Shepherd awareness
- Dala distribution during difficult times
- Wool grading
